El Limonar farm was originally part of El Injerto Farm. In 1890 Jesus María Aguirre became the owner of a very big farm called El Injerto. He was married with Trinidad Panama, who inherited the farm to his 3 sons. In January the 30th 1909 one of the 3 sons (Jesús Aguirre) became the sole owner, and married Rosaura Galvez Molina. After Jesus Aguirre past away, his two children became the owners, Rogelio and Gilberto Aguirre Galvez, both divided El Injerto in two farms. Later El Limonar was given to Rogelio Aguirre Escobar from his father Rogelio Aguirre Galvez.

By that time the farm was already cultivated with coffee and macadamia nuts. On May 9th 1980, after Rogelio Aguirre Escobar past away, his brother Arturo Aguirre Escobar took control of the farm for the following 4 years. In 1985 Rosa María Ovalle, Rogelio Aguirre’s wife, started managing the farm. Since then she has been the person in charge of the farm with the unique goal to keep growing coffee with high standards of quality.

The altitude of the farm ranges from 1,400 to 1,800masl and it is cultivated mostly with Bourbon, Catuaí, Caturra and Pacamara.

This year’s CoE lot is a Natural Pacamara consisting of 25 quintales of parchment.
