EL ALTO - Costa Rica 2019 Verified listing

This farm was bought by Don Enrique and Doña Guisell in 2005, and was cultivated with coffee in 2009, with the variety caturra, typica and villalobos. The name EL ALTO, is given in honor of a grocery business that the family founded in the '90s, which was called El Alto, thanks to the profits generated in the store, it was possible to buy this land and grow coffee, the store became popular thanks to the homemade ice cream that my mother herself made for sale.

The first year the farm was cultivated, it was not successful, about 20,000 coffee trees were lost, since they were not able to withstand the climate and the altitude of this place, but insistently Don Enrique cultivated again and succeeded, until 5 years later he managed to harvest the first grains with which he took second place in the Cup of Excellence 2014. Enrique Navarro Jr. is who is now in charge of the farm and the process of the cherries.
This terroir has conditions that make it a very unique and differentiated profile, its altitude is 1920 meters above sea level, and changes in temperature during the day and night improves grain density.

This farm represents the entrepreneurship of parents to give their children better opportunities.
