Description

The farm La Pia was named after the eldest of three great aunts in the Calderón family and when it was bought the idea was for it to be planted for coffee production by the Calderón family, ten years ago, with a goal of  producing exotic coffees that would have good quality  by being benefited by the land’s high altitude and mineral rich soil, hot dry summers and cold winter time. Víctor Calderón, a fifth-generation coffee grower taught his oldest son, Jose some of his family’s knowledge and together they planted it, that will help the family to continue to produce high quality coffee for the next generation. For the coffee rust we implemented the use of clay which was mixed with water and sprayed over and under the leaves that created a hostile environment for the rust fungus to grow and develop and multiply, since the clay has a alkaline ph.
