Description

Coffee production began at Fazenda Passeio over 100 years ago with Adolfo’s great-grandfather. The farm passed from generation to generation to the hands of Adolfo Vieira, the current owner. He is the 4th generation of the family at the head of the farm and assumed control around 35 years ago in 1985.

Fazenda Passeio is located in a mountainous area, a factor that privileges the production of high-quality coffees. Since 1998 the producer has worked with much dedication, seeking quality in his coffees.

Adolfo participated in the Gourmet Coffee Project, also held by BSCA, which sought to encourage and make feasible the production of specialty coffees in the country. The farm was one of those selected to participate in the project and from then to now the activities grew exponentially, and it has become increasingly well-known for the quality of its coffees. Today Adolfo has an excellent team that helps him and, together with his family, they are dedicated to continuing on this incredible journey of producing specialty coffees.

The coffee for this competition is a Yellow Bourbon from the “Mirantinho 2 bourbon” plot. This coffee was harvested in mid-July, when it was already at an advanced stage of maturation. The beans were washed and pulped. After this process, the coffee remained on the cement patio for two days and was then spread on African beds, where it stayed for 15 days, with a break on the tenth day for the beans to rest in bags for a week. Then it returned to the African beds to complete the 15 days. Then it was stored in a granary to rest for around one month. Finally it was cleaned and sent for warehousing at SMC Specialty Coffees (coffee exporter).
