This is the first time I participate in COE México. Immersing myself in the world of coffee has been an exciting adventure, with uncertainty, intense and arduous learning. Until a year and a half ago I was only a coffee drinker, this changed when I happened to see the cherries from a forgotten farm rot. Hello! My name is Damna Reyes Hernández and I am from Ciudad Mendoza in the state of Veracruz. I am inspired to build a legacy on artisan coffee culture. My training as an engineer and a teacher have contributed to researching, designing and testing those ideas that add value to the world of coffee. This led me to start everything that I wanted to check in our farm located in Tomatlán Veracruz at 1600 M.S.N.M. where I work together with the Gilbón García family. Our farm is characterized by using organic waste as fertilizer and thus promoting ecological agriculture; It is located in the middle of the Chiltepec hill, surrounded by an ecosystem of high mountains that provide the farm with ideal conditions for the growth of coffee trees. Knowledge management, my willpower and the experts at my side have made my job as a coffee producer easier. Today I am happy because the sum of efforts has resulted in producing specialty coffee. I am grateful for the opportunity that the field offers me to be a woman who today is part of the Mexican cafes that participate in the international stage of the 2021 Mexico Cup of Excellence Contest. We use plants fertilized with organic products. We take care that the cherries used were of a single variety, that in the cut, the cherries with the most ripeness will be selected. We use natural resources responsibly. In the drying, we occupy beds that keep the grain separate from the floor to prevent it from becoming contaminated. This lot was harvested in the month of february 2021.
