The history of Finca Clara Luz, began more than 50 years ago, when my parents planted one of their farms with coffee called criollo (typical old) they decided to make a bet on coffee because already at that time there was a very important area of coffee plantations around Loja. We sold through intermediaries the coffee to Guayaquil and then they exported to the United States. I grew up from my childhood perceiving the aroma of coffee cherries from the harvest in the drying room and then in the threshing as well as the intense and delicious aroma of coffee. It has been filtered at my house on cool mornings and hot coffee harvest afternoons for as long as I can remember. 6 years ago I decided to take the initiative to replant with new varieties such as Cider, Geisha in Clara Luz farm (whose name is in honor of my mother who is no longer with us) in addition to conserving the forest of native arboreal species. Every year I plant species of local plants to get an arboretum and under this we grow coffee under shade.
I thank COE very much for this initiative to show the exquisite coffee from Ecuador and Loja in particular to the world! Cheers
