History of the Farm
Sítio Criciúma is owned by Mr. Amador Dias Filho, a resident of Estevão de Araújo, in the city of Araponga, MG. It is located 7 km from his home in Estouros. When he was a child, he helped in father with coffee on the farm.
Today at 72 years of age, he works together with his three children on the farm, inherited from his father, Amador Dias, in 2008. The farm has several springs and is divided by the São Gabriel river. It is at an elevation of 1200 meters, which favors the production of high-quality coffee.
Nowadays the producer works the fields with partners. There are 15 hectares of coffee trees.
The family is responsible for the harvest, which is done by men, women and youths.
Coffee processing system
There are a few plots with different varieties on the property. The Catuaí 44 is the best adapted to the region and presents the best quality. The Catuaí 44 is treated with fertilizer, sprayed, weeded and the beans are picked selectively. The coffee for the competition came from these plots. It was hand-picked bean by bean and taken to the concrete patio. The lot received all necessary care of maintain its quality. After drying concluded, it was bagged and stored in a suitable location to await commercialization.
Concern about quality
The producer seeks to keep himself up-to-date through news, meetings, interviews, projects, courses, events and neighboring producers to ensure the quality of his coffee.
