The property has been in our family's possession for three generations:
The first generation at the beginning of the last century used it to graze cattle during the summer, and the second generation planted small plots of corn, beans ,tomato, potato, potato, onion , garlic and fruit trees (orange, mountain guineo, avocado, peach) and as an alternative crop coffee of the Arabica variety, whose production was exclusively for family consumption . In 1995 and 1996 I developed two nurseries, one of 10,000 and the other of 7,000 plants of Borbón and Pacamara respectively, which were planted in an area of 3.5 hectares with a production of 20 quintals of Pacamara and 40 quintals of Bourbón.
History of the farm:
It is located in the canton Los Planes municipality of Citalá, department of Chalatenango, with an average altitude of 1,600 meters above sea level with an area of 35 hectares of which 14 hectares are cultivated of the varieties Pacamara, Pacas, Borbón and Catuaí Amarillo with a production of 100, 30, 20 and 40 qq parchment respectively.
The property has 4 water springs including a lagoon of approximately 1,200 square meters which inspired the name of the farm, this spring feeds the source that supplies drinking water to the community of the municipality of Citalá (which in Nahuatl means river of stars) with a population of 3,500 inhabitants.
It also has a forest reserve of 4 hectares of cypress trees planted by our own initiative and a natural forest of 2 hectares. The coffee plantation is managed thanks to our 4 permanent and 12 occasional employees that help us to maintain our farm with adequate shade, tilling and fertilizers that are applied in a programmed way to maintain production.
