Description

Family originally from Metapan, with great love for these mountains and its inhabitants. Always looking for crops and livestock work to provide work and teach the inhabitants good agricultural-agricultural-livestock, school and sports education. Facilitating space for the construction of schools, soccer fields and church.

History of the farm:
For María Elena, continuing the tradition as a coffee producer is a tribute to her grandfather Juan Ramón Calderón, a lover of this beautiful mountain in the Alotepec-Metapan region. Each coffee harvest reminds her of him working his borbón and typical coffee trees and also of her childhood when she enjoyed her school summers. The farm is a beautiful place. The distance to get there is long but it is worth it! The coffee grows surrounded by mountains with oak, oak and pine trees and the biodiversity ensures that the coffee trees produce the best quality fruit in the Alotepeque-Metapan region.
María Elena is a very visionary and enterprising producer. She has broken the taboo in her family that "only men are in charge of the coffee business". The participation of the farm's coffee in Cup of Excellence contests keeps them, as a family, always thinking of a world of opportunities in this industry. The name of the farm was given to the farm by the workers who, while planting, prayed in the name of God that this tree would bear fruit.
Little by little and with much family effort they are implementing improvements in their wet mill. Innovation and continuous improvement motivate them to continue; the best agricultural practices and new processing techniques go hand in hand; and as a family they like to always be at the forefront, which has allowed them to cover the entire processing and distribution chain to directly negotiate their beans with their clients.
For María Elena and her family, coffee is a treasure! Without a doubt, it is a very important economic pillar, but it is also a means to promote urban development projects in the community and healthy recreational plans for children and young people, thus contributing to the development of better human beings in society.

Awards: Cup of Excellence winner 2004, 2007, 2009, 2011.
