Description

As 5th Generation coffee producers, we are committed to improving our farms, the quality of our coffee and the image of Salvadoran Coffee.

The farm Pinar de Santiago, named after our Great Grandfather Santiago Letona, has a cultivated area of 187 hectares of coffee at an altitude ranging from 1000 to 1700 MAMSL (meters above mean sea level). It is located in Canton Las Granadillas, part of the department of La Libertad, near the area known as “El Boqueron”, the crater of the San Salvador volcano. The volcano’s most recent eruption in 1917 caused a flank eruption along the North-western face of the volcano, with lava flowing over part of the farm.

Carlos A. Borja is the president of Borja Letona, S.A. de C.V. (BL), He succeeded his father after his premature death in 1961, and has been fully involved in the coffee world ever since. The experience gained through the years has allowed us to participate in various events such as the Cup of Excellence (CoE); obtaining with Pinar de Santiago (BL) the 24th place in 2004 and 26th place in 2023.

Pinar de Santiago employs on average 100 people year-round, doubling that during the harvest season, with a ratio of 60 to 40 men to women. Most employees come from the Canton Las Granadillas where we help support the rural community, alongside the Granadillas Cooperative, with water distribution, security, education, and sports activities in the town we share.
