Description
I started working in the coffee industry in 1982, because it was first from an educational perspective. My initial education was from a plantation academy majoring in coffee, rubber and cocoa. Then in 1988 I joined the Kapal Api Group; and PT Sulotco Jaya Abadi which operates in the coffee plantation sector in Tana Toraja until now.
This farm was once a Dutch legacy named H.J. Stock Van Dykk in 1928. Out of ± 1200 hectares, he only cultivated 100 hectares. Then it was taken over by Japan in 1942. When Indonesia gained independence in 1945, it became State land. In 1986, it was offered to the Kapal Api Group to be managed as a plantation to develope the plantation industry outside Java. Kapal Api Group helped the government to open coffee plantations outside Java and established in Tana Toraja HGU ex Erpacht rights from H.J. Van Dykk that covers an area of ± 1200 hectares, at an altitude of 1500-1800 masl for its coffee plants. The farm itself reaches up to 2000 m above sea level.
