History

Mr. Jose Cacildo Palma represents the Cooperativa Yorito. He has a family of tree children and has been producing coffee from 15 years. Mr Palma is a devote of the environmental protection and from many years he has created a coffee farm with a great diversity of shade threes that also serves as refugee for a great number of animals. Quality Practices Each of all the practices during the year are done with special care in order to protect the beautiful environment that surrounds the farm. The coffee is processed by using traditional methods, Mr Palma owns a pulping machine and dry the grain over cement platforms by using the heat of sunrays. He keep the soils and water bodies free of pollution by doing many environmental friendly practices.

Environmental Care

This Coffee is shade grown and among the shade threes many animal species can be found. He has an waste water treatment ponds and no chemical pesticides are applied. Fertilization To fertilize he uses pulp treated with californian earth worm (Eisenia foetida) . The shade is also controlled in order to assure the entrance of the right amount of light. Disease and Pest Control Cultural practices and biological control when necessary Harvesting Handpicking of ripe grains of Coffee begins in December and finish in April. This task is performed by skillful men and woman. Pulping and Fermentation Mrs. Palma has his own wet mill in which she does this processing task. there is a fermentation tank, a pulping machine and a selection canal where the first and second quality coffees are separated. Quality is an important topic in this farm therefore every single step is done with care. Drying The drying of Coffee is done over cement platforms by using the sunlight.
