Description
History
I come originally from the municipality of Pedregal, my father was a coffee producer too. Before being a coffee grower I was a trader in coffee. I had the chance to study and I got my title in Agricultural Enterprises Management. I have also been a teacher for 10 years now. I live in the farm with my mother, my aunt and 3 nephews. I am still single. I am a member of the association of producers of the region.
Environmental Care
I always protect the native sources of water in the farm, I plant native trees in the protected areas and close to the water sources. All the solid wastes are recycled, I also use red sworms for producing compost from the pulp of the cherries. I teach this in the school I work for and every student have to apply this in the farms they live.
Coffee Processing Information
During harvest season, I have to take special control of the picking, if necessary I do have to pick several times the week, to assure the picking of red cherries only. The depulping is done at 5 pm each day, fermentation takes 12-14 hours, after this coffee is washed, and finally dried in parabolic driers.
