Description

Cafe Montana HistoryFelix Yana is a young coffee producer. He has been married a few years and has three children, who will be going to school this year. He belongs to the Cooperativa San Ignacio, an organization that has been a Cup of Excellence winner in the past. This is not the first time Felix has participated int the competition, and he understands the importance of the event. “It’s very important. I’ve participated before, but I’ve never won. For me the good thing about the competition is that it’s good for the coffee sector. It’s helped us improve our quality.” ”If a coffee merchant comes to my farm, I welcome him. I take him to see my plantations, which are well cared for. Then I show him the whole process, because it isn’t easy. But doing it well has its benefits. Like now. I’m proud to have won.” Felix wants to win first place, so that his Cooperative can regain the honor. For this reason, he plans to invest what he earns from the sale of his coffee in production. “I want to process the coffee better. I’m going to invest in production, for my family. We’ll invest in washing stations, a canal, to wash the coffee. Right now, we only have a simple tub to wash in by hand.”
