Mr. Jesus Guevara was born in January 21th of 1964, in Piedra Blanca village, Samaniego municipality, Narino department. He is 46 years old. He started in coffee 26 years ago, when he got his parents heritage, ones he bought “La Tira” farm, in company with his brother Efrain Guevara, he got more in deep in coffee, a few years later he bought the percentage of land of his brother and continue working at the farm by his own. When he was 29 years old, he got married Mrs. Nelcy Villota and now they have 2 daughters their names Yurany Guevara and Yulisa Guevara. Now, in company of his family Mr. Guevara continues working at the farm. The most recent acquisition are the parcels then have gotten “Guindal and Piedra Blanca” these lands where they built their house and they also have coffee area. Mrs. Jesus Guevara is being recognized as a leader inside his community, he is been working at the Municipal Committee Coffee in Narino 8 years ago, he also has participating at CoE contest four times, getting to the finals three times. He is a member of the Cooperative of Coffee Growers of Western Narino. One of his farms has a spring which had plant with tree species such as Bambu, Nacedero, Ortigo, Higueron, Sauce, Cordoncillo and other native species. The reason is just the principals that Mr. Guevara has for natural resources protection, besides that the coffee grower usually plants his coffee with diversified shade. Focus on custody of the diversity; maintains of food and home for animals, he uses organic fertilizers at the plantation knowing the importance of this concept, the weeds control he does is done by machete and in some of his farms has a native plant call “Churillo” to minimize the erosion. Their slogan is “To produce conserving and conserve producing”.
