Overview:

This is the third time Jose Nolvy has participated in a CoE competition in the 3rd version, in the 7th and in this 9th version. His farm has the Rainforest and UTZ certifications, also the Nespresso AAA and cafe practices verification. He is also an active member of the group “Palmar de Criollo” being the actual president, and also he is a representative of the producers of the municipality of Pitalito for the Coffee Committee of Huila. Jose Nolvy is married to Maria Deyci Bautista and they have 4 children Yamile, Edna Rocio, Dayan and Rene. He is by tradition a coffee farmer, his family from the municipality of Planadas – Tolima, and because of violence problems he decided to move to get a better life for him and his family, that is why he is today living at the municipality of Pitalito, where he bought the piece of land he is owner and little by little has being extending thanks to the purchases he has done to the neighbors around. The farm “El Mirador” has an uneven topography, but that is the best place to harvest the beans that has provide the best quality coffee and where he is trying to take care of the environment. He is doing the fertilization activity two times a year following the recommendations and indications of the soil tests; for that he is using organic fertilizers “compost” from the farm and also some chemical products. He is doing the recollection of just the mature cherries and the control at the lots to prevent the broca proliferation. His harvesting time is from October to November in an 80% and the 20% left is for the Mitaca crop from May to June. The process facilities are traditional and the drying process is in a patio. The meaning of coffee to Jose Nolvy is that coffee has a very good culture in his land, which is the guarantee of the commercialization, also thought the sale of the product the farmers get the incomes for management of a house. With the quality type of coffee that he produces he has being able to be in the final in three versions of cup of the excellence; he is positive that the clients that enjoy his coffee are happy and will felt in love with the product, people and land where it comes from.
