Description

Overview:

I was born in “Balboa”, a beautiful municipality located at the south of the Cauca department, on October 27th of 1986. Since I was a kid, my parents taught me the value and importance of honesty and hard work. My parents, who have always being dedicated to agriculture, oriented me on how to work the ground. In 2005, as a consequence of the hard economic situation that we were having with my family and because of the environment that we were living in the municipality, I dedicated myself, as many other people, to the planting of illicit crops; fact that helped strengthen insecurity and violence in the zone because it attracted armed groups. The government intervened and eradicated those crops in 2007 and thanks to the help of the Colombia n Coffee Growers Federation, we planted coffee and entered to the specialty coffee program, Nespresso AAA, where we learn to value our life, our family, the nature and team work. Two years later, we started the certification process for our farms in the village under the Rainforest Alliance seal, which we obtained with great effort and work. Now, as one of the few certified producers in the municipality, I am an example of tenacity and change because of the job that I have realized in my farm. I am married; I don’t have children yet, but one of my biggest dreams is to have them and give them good education, that they could be professionals and that they could be useful for society. Thanks to coffee I have lived and will live happy.
