Description

Overview:

I was born in the path “Rio Claro” in a zone called “Gaitania” located in the municipality of “Planadas” in the department of Tolima, on June 26th of 1983. I come from a numerous coffee family composed by my parents and 10 brothers.
When I was 8 years old, my parents, tired of living from farm to farm, managing other’s properties, decided to start their own coffee project, buying a two hectare farm in the path “Los Alpes” where I studied the entire elementary school. At the age of 15, I decided to change my life’s direction in company of my brother Elver, so we went to the municipality of “Pitalito” located in the department of Huila. There, I knew Maria Eugenia, my wife with whom I have a 3 year old beautiful son called Elkin Yair.
My first coffee farm was in “Pitalito” in company of my brother Elver, who besides of being my brother is my friend and my business associate. We started with 3000 coffee trees but because we missed a lot our family, we decided to get back to the Gaitania zone and fortunately we bought the farm we currently have in the same zone where we grew up with my brother and with my whole family.
The farm “Brasilia” has a total of 22 hectares, five of them are cultivated with coffee, ten are pastures and stubble and the rest are forest.
In this moment, my brother, my wife and I make part of the Business Management Group which is performed in “Gaitania”. One thing of our list of goals and priorities is to continue with these training processes that led to the personal growth, to strengthen values and to the managerial knowledge that can be applied in our families and farms. We also want to continue with the renovation process of coffee plants in the farm; with these processes I hope I can continue being a coffee grower who provides good quality coffee.
