Description
The property has belonged to the family since the 70s, when the family patriarch, Mr. João Nalli, and his wife, Mrs. Eunice Bernabé Nalli, acquired the property that was already planted with coffee and banana crops. They raised their 9 children there and thus the property was later passed on to the children, this being one part administered by Mr. Marcos Antonio Nalli and his wife, Mrs. Luciana Picoli Nalli. The couple lives on the property, they have two children, Breno and Beatriz, who live with the parents, and the entire family actively participates in all aspects of the local community life (social, cultural and religious), where they certainly intend to continue living for many more years. One important fact is the family’s concern with the environment, as the property has a registered legal reserve, a permanent preservation area, and the entire family contributes to the preservation of flora and fauna.
Coffee processing system:
The harvesting system used is selective harvest, where given the great number of blossomings that occur in the region, performing one single harvest is not permitted, and is instead doen 4 to 5 times. The harvest normally is begun in the month of May and extends to the month of December. The coffee is picked onto sieves, stored in raffia bags and taken to the dryer on the same day, where the floaters (dry cherries) are separated, and only the cherry beans are pulped, these pass through the demucilator and are taken to pre-drying on suspended patios and later to the covered patio. The coffee is raked around 8 times per day until it reaches the ideal humidity level and is they ready to be taken to the rest boxes that are made of bricks with wooden floors, and the sides are lined with cardboards to impede the entrance of humidity.
Concern about quality:
The producer began investing in quality around 10 years ago, when he expanded his processing unit, which is equipped with new, covered patios, suspended patios, new rest boxes, a pulper and demucilator, among others. Since work on achieving quality began, the coffee has excelled at several local, state, and national contests, as the producer constantly separates the lots with traceability by plot and by harvest date.
