El Trapiche - Costa Rica 2013 Verified listing

Located in Santa Rosa of León Cortes, El Trapiche is set at 1900 meters above sea level. This farm has several characteristics that benefit the coffee: perfect climate, the position of the sun, the slow ripening which allows the better concentration of coffee attributes, varieties adapted to height (caturra, red catuai, moka, Bourbón, Gesha and Typical); rich soils in organic materials and good agronomical practices.

This farm is named after its former owners who had a “trapiche”: a mill used to elaborate sweet caps from sugar cane. We decided to keep the name because the meaning and tradition this represents in our families and country. The coffee from El Trapiche is milled at the Beneficio Santa Rosa 1900.

It now belongs to Agrícola Agrinava Society formed by father and son, were both have a great passion for the coffee business.  After three years of being involved in the milling of our own coffee, we decided to participate in Cup of Excellence, hopping to gain experience and exposure worldwide as small producers. It was a great and pleasant surprise going thru to the International cuppings knowing that the competition was though, participating against great producers.

This has been an amazing adventure for the whole family, not only obtaining a spot on the auction but also because we have met great people, new buyers and cuppers!!
