Farmer’s Biography:

I was born in Garzón (Huila) on March 30, 1960.  I am from Huila as to my father and mother, since they are from Garzón (Huila). At the age of 23, I met the wife and love of my life, Yaneth Palacios, with whom I married and formed a family of three children: Jonathan Andrés, Fabián Felipe and Karol Fernanda. I have owned this farm for 20 years, a business of mine of which I am the manager; my love for and interest in coffee growing arouse years earlier thanks to the friendship with Hernán Oliveros Collazos, who at the time was the owner of the Alemania farm in Zuluaguita, which I frequented.

Since 2010 I started my participation in the Cup of Excellence competitions, going through 4 exhibitions, including this year's, an experience that greatly enriches my work as coffee farmer and recognizes the production model used on my farm. Similarly I have perfomed a trade-union work in the community for 5 consecutive years, by participating as a member of the municipal Coffee Growers Committee in Gigante (Huila).

My farm is currently certified with the seals FLO, UTZ, Rainforest Alliance and 4C, which guarantee the proper management and production system of my coffee business. The success achieved so far has been thanks to God and my total dedication and my family’s, which has been a continuous support in this process.
