Description
The Oldemar Arrieta Family own three farms: Las Casas, Zapote and Fidel; with the last one, we obtained the first award in Cup of Excellence in 2013. This Finca Fidel was divided in two farms: La Montaña and El Bosque (CoE #22), for a better maintenance and because of the different varieties we now have planted.
La Montaña means “The Mountain”, is located in the top of the farm and it is planted with Villa Sarchí and new other coffee varieties such as Bourbón, Gesha and Ovatá. Nowadays these varieties are in their blossom stage and we look forward to having good harvests pretty soon.
We are blessed with great weather and volcanic origin soil. These lands used to be pasture crops for livestock. This farm has lots of vegetation and many wild animals such as monkeys, parrots and different birds. In this mountain you can find spring waters that provide water for human consumption and watering the coffee plantations. For many years these coffees were unnoticed because they were given to cooperatives for low prices. Therefore, we are grateful to the Cup of Excellence and buyers of these lots because they recognize the careful work on the processes. This is very satisfying for us, because we feel it was not in vein all the sacrifices done in the process of producing coffee, a cherry that definitely has something special.
