El Aguacate - Honduras 2015 Verified listing

Selvin Javier Castillo is the happy owner of the farm El Aguacate located at an altitude 1890 meters above sea level in the village Playoncito in the municipality of Ajuterique, department of Comayagua with a length of 1.5 hectares cultivated with IHCAFE-90 variety.

As for handling, Selvin makes the maintenance activities of the farm such as good pruning and cleaning with a hoe, then when the rainy season starts he fertilize twice and uses the coffee pulp from the previous harvest. The collection is selective and performs with his family and people in your community who contracts at the time of harvest. Coffee is pulping the same day that is picked and then let it ferment for more than 24 hours. Wash the coffee at the appropriate time is vital to obtain good flavor and prevent coffee damage. Drying it does on screens and for now he does not have a solar dryer, coffee is finally stored on pallets and cover his coffee with plastic to protect it from moisture.

It is his first participation in COE and ranked at number 25 with the help of technicians IHCAFE he has learned to produce and good quality coffee.

His desire is to leave with his wife a good legacy to his two children and preserve the tradition of the coffee production; also, he aspires to build his own solar.
