Description

Antonio is a real fighter full of perseverance and courage, it has few years as a producer of coffee and although his dream was always to have a coffee plantation, very young he formed a family and soon was putting his desires because he had to dedicate to working for other people to support his family.

With few opportunities, he decided to immigrate one year to the United States leaving his wife to care for their six children, beyond work tirelessly and managed to save enough to buy a plot of 2 hectares of land where when he returned to Honduras with his wife help they planted coffee, and so fulfill the long cherished dream.

After a period of producing coffee, he realized that some producers from his village in Pozo Negro, Masaguara ,Intibuca sold their coffee at a good price for the quality. Then he decided to try and IHCAFE technicians advised him to participate in the COE because he had a quality coffee, Antonio participated in 2014 for first time and was ranked fourth, prompting him to continue working and to participate again this year.

Antonio realized that a good coffee starts with a proper agronomic management keeping the crop free of diseases and pests, and especially with a nutrition program favored by excellent weather conditions of his farm at an altitude of 1730 meters. Another aspect that Antonio takes great is the processing and drying of the grain, thanks to COE was able to improve his milling station and build a solar dryer to improve the coffee process.
