Description
History of the farm:
The property was acquired in 2011 and has been family run since then. The objective is to produce specialty coffees with unique attributes, only found in the Caparaó Mountain Range. The farm has Certifica Minas certification, which is granted by the Minas Gerais state government. It has 15 thousand coffee trees. It receives consultants from Emater (Minas Gerais rural development company) and Matas de Minas Specialty Coffees, a producer association in the region.
The property neighbors the Caparaó National Park, and is in the area that will have the Cafés do Caparaó Denomination of Origin (in the process of formalization).
Environmental concern:
Care for the environment began in the producer’s grandfather’s time, when the property he lived on was divided among the children and the water table began to decrease. However, it has been over 20 years since the family began to preserve the waterways.
On the property, the family promotes the removal of eucalyptus from the hilltop and the preservation and increase of native forests.
