Description

Replanting coffee trees from same variety has been a constant in Lorena.
We traditionally renew with same variety as old age trees approach their useful cycle. The reason for maintaining Bourbón and Typica is dictated by the proven market for good quality coffee.

The farm is divided into 10 well-defined parcels of similar size. Recently we introduced two new varieties to the farm. We entirely substituted two parcels and were planted using Cuscatleco and Castillo. The choice of the location of the new parcel was determined by the topographical inclination where the maintenance of the rust susceptible Bourbón was very difficult. These varieties were chosen mainly for the rust resistant property. Rust in coffee trees has left us with lower yields, higher costs, and diminishing returns.

Two other parcels are being planted with Bourbón anaranjado. A variety that has lured many coffee enthusiasts for its distinctive and consistent body and appealing flavor.

Lorena s Pacamara parcel is constantly renewed with nursery trees from personally picked homogeneous seeds of vigorous and productive well defined selected trees. This constant is partially the reason we have to maintain a consistently good tasting high-quality coffee cup. Every parcel in Lorena farm is treated and cared for in its unique way. The reasons are the age of trees, land topography, the distance between trees, composition of the soil and potential for retaining humidity, state in the pruning cycle and many others. In many ways, the Pacamara lot is by far the most different in the approach in cultivating and maintenance. To encourage the variety congenital characteristics we pursue an adequate shade and humidity needed for its robust configuration, fuller grain, timely stable ripeness and better and more stable productions.

In today reality the mountainous coffee land is the only remaining filter that continues to protect and provide for the flora, fauna and permeability of precipitation.

With sound agricultural practices, Lorena farm contributes to the conservation of the environment and natural resources. Preserving and avoiding land degradation, employment and income opportunities to the people of the surrounding area. are some of the benefits you help our farm provide when you purchase our high-quality coffee.
