Mr. Lucas Melo was born on October 20th of 1961, in Narino Department; he is 49th years old. He created his enterprise, Known as “El Cairo” ten years ago without forgetting his coffee tradition from his parents. Druting this time he is being an active grower implementing techniques at the farm and adopting suggestions to make the benefits for his family and himself. Today, Mr. Melo shows his interest to keep improving his farm and continue showing the Narino quality Coffee. The farm is next to the Natural Reserve of the “Galeras Volcano”, this is one of the main reasons of the farmer for protection of natural resources, his farm and the area surrounded is being focus on environmental studies and ecological groups that belongs to this zone. Besides this, the farm started the Rainforest Alliance certification process and doing the execution plan, the coffee grower propose several activities that transform this activities with the goals of keeping the forests and the protection of natural resources by friendships with the nature.
