Description

Overview:

My name is Jairo Gomez Acosta, proudly from the municipality of Almaguer, because it is my land the one who has taught me, since the day I was born, to take the shadow under the coffee plant and where I learnt among years to cultivate them as the old ones did it; day workers, farmers and illiterates that even in their condition could maintain my brothers.
Then I arrived, after a day of hoe and shovel. On July 25th of 1967 I started humbly to grow between good customs and values, with lots of necessities but with enough food for everyone.
Currently and 15 years ago, with my wife Ofelia, we have wake up with sun to find the best day workers in the farms of the village “Cortaderas” from the municipality of Almaguer, Cauca. In that place, we asked the farm’s owners to pay us with coffee seeds so I could grow them in my little piece of land. In that process, I got some coffee seedlings and I always waited with them to pick up the best grains and to have in the future the best cup.
From crop to crop I could acquire neighboring pieces of land and nowadays they conform the farm “El Galpon”, where I live with my two children and my wife, where we can share and worthily live with the things that the farm give us and where we can also continue with the purpose of extending the coffee exercise through the region, fighting against adversities and sharing the success that let us grow with humanizing experiences for the harmony of our Almaguer’s rural community.
