Juan Bautista is the second generation of coffee growers in his family, he has been producing high quality coffees for 5 years. His cousin Weibmar Lasso won a cup tasters competition in their region and starts to encourage his family to take the specialty coffee production path.
His uncle Abdias Lasso gets 6th place in 2017 being his first time competing. This has become a motivation for the Lasso family to keep performing in this kind of competitions.

Juan is Agronomist and his experience in working with SENA providing training in the specialty coffee production to other growers has been the opportunity to gather the expertise to apply all these learnings into his family project.

This is the first time he submits his coffee to Cup of Excellence. He did a specific plan in order to get the lot he submitted in COE, he says that this time he was lucky to count on good weather conditions for the maturation of his cherries, also a controlled processing and slow drying allowed him to get good results. Juan expects to keep competing with his family and represent his region and municipality. Juan wants to keep growing other varieties such as Caturra Chiroso and Tabi.
