Description

History of the farm

With the spread of specialty coffees in the region, in 2012 the producer decided to lease an area of land from one of his father-in-law’s nephews to focus on producing specialty coffees. Since then, the family has continuously sought quality to aggregating more value to its coffees, participating in competitions. They are achieving their objectives, presenting their best coffees from their harvest at competitions. André is the current Brazilian Cup Tasters champion.

Coffee processing system

The coffee was selectively harvested with a mechanized harvester. The harvester passed through the fields three times, picking only ripe cherries. The coffee was dried slowly on a concrete patio. It rested for 30 days in big bags. The producer’s brother-in-law and nephew, Luismar and Marco Aurélio, are responsible for taking care of the coffee in the fields. Seasonal workers from Bahia help with the harvest, picking in areas that cannot be mechanized. André’s wife, Lilian, is responsible for post-harvest processing. The lot itself was chosen by André. He is constantly searching for nuances that truly represent the flavors of Brazilian coffee and this lot was the best for its sweetness, citric acidity and balance.

Concern about quality

Since leasing the land, André has been striving to increase the scores of his coffees. He takes special care with all aspects, from choice of varietals to proper planting to harvest and post-harvest processing to achieve quality in his coffees.
