Description

Roberto Serafín Ramírez Fernandez
Roberto has been a coffee grower all his life, third generation grower and has a farm called Limoncito (which means small lemon) in La Encarnacion, Ocotepeque. He and his family are hard workers, and have a passion for coffee that is reflected in the taste of their product. He loves to work on the field, knowing that every hour he invests in his plantation will bring out better flavors and aromas to his coffee. His farm is not a very high altitude (1100 MASL) yet it was ideal for the variety of coffee chosen , which is Parainema (a coffee variety developed by IHCAFE).
He plans on investing back the earnings of the coffee sale to improve his farm and processing. He wishes he could help back to his community to have more access to education.
Coffee tradition of our family has over 80 years, in 1930 Don Elisandro Ramírez, my father, a native of La work Ocotepeque comes to lands of the Encarnación Ocotepeque where he settled definitively. His interest in coffee comes from reading brochures sent to municipalities by Mr Pompilio Ortega that explained all the benefits of coffee and the future representing the country. Thus the first parcel of land acquired was 1 manzana, near the banks of the river Playon and planting their first estate of Typica variety. The farm with which I am currently participating was purchased by my father in the 1950s at a price of 800 lempiras cultivated Typica coffee, this was changed to Caturra variety until the year 1985, and by the attack of rust was completely destroyed 5 years ago,I renewed it with coffee Catuaí variety, and Parainema with which we are participating in the Cup of Excellence.
