Description
In 2013, I began getting involved in the coffee industry, starting as a barista. I expanded my skills to become a roaster in 2018, in line with the very rapid development of the coffee industry.
In 2020, in Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, West Java, Kawitan Coffee and I began to focus more on the upstream side of the coffee industry; by utilizing a plot of land that was initially only 1.0 Ha in collaboration with the Department of Forestry and several local farmers. We are planting in the Pangalengan mountains with an average altitude of over 1,650 meters above sea level, distributing selected varieties and implementing an organic farming system.
Finca de Berman is an upstream brand, part of Kawitan Coffee, where Berman is taken from the name of the village where our coffee is processed. The coffee we process comes from Mount Malabar and Mount Tilu, two mountains close to our processing land. I carry out various post-harvest processes starting from classic processes (Natural, Honey, Wash, and Wet-hulled) and experimental processes. With limited production equipment, I am sure that if the synergy of well-maintained plantations and well-controlled post-harvest processes can produce coffee with a high quality.
I hope that after participating in Cup of Excellent Indonesia, I can contribute to the Indonesian specialty coffee industry and can set an example, especially for farmers around Pangalengan, that if coffee comes from well-maintained gardens and good processing, it can compete in local and international markets.
