My love story for coffee is literally a love story, hello my name is Ingrid Alejandra Hernández López and I will tell you a little story of the thousands that exist where coffee is the main author.
More than 20 years ago I met a man, famous to many (except me) because the age difference separated us a lot but in the future the passion for the taste of coffee would unite us for life, it was a June 3 of many years back they invited me to see a farm... the farm of uncle jose luis andrade gandara (for many pepe luis) when i was on the road from the city of coatepec to the town of cosautlán de carvajal, my eyes filled up seeing so much natural beauty around me (and at the same time I was thinking about where they are taking me)….
Finally we arrived, from the entrance to the farm it was imposing, the huge black gate, with its white columns supporting it.
Whooo suddenly I was surrounded side by side by some beautiful trees formed ready for a parade all the same size and the same distance from each other, it was the most orderly thing I had seen during my visit, I think my face disbelief said it all because someone said they are coffee trees.
There I understood that a farm is like a child, you have to understand it from the beginning; what do you want and need, and thus work day by day.
Planting, shading, rescuing trees already planted years ago, feeding them, caring for them, being afraid that they won't grow healthy and strong, that if the wind blew that a falling tree hasn't hurt them, that if it hails and hurts its leaves, anyway a number of things that lead you to love them.
When you manage to obtain a perfect fruit, now you want a process that benefits the same, so here we got down to work, to study to now understand the behavior of the grain after cutting and it took several years of courses, visits to farms, hearing from those who They already did different processes and tried those processes on my beans and that's how I managed to get to a coffee like the one you taste today.
I live proudly in the town of Vaqueria, in the municipality of Cosautlán de Carvajal, in the mountainous area of the state of Veracruz, a place from where we can see the Pico de Orizaba and Cofe de Perote volcanoes, through the afternoons of silence we can appreciate the song of the birds and if you are lucky you can see the beautiful family of toucans that with their shapes and colors are like giving your eyes a treat (or rather a sip of that delicious coffee that you enjoy so much every day)
At a height of 1,150 meters above sea level, I know that I am a privileged person because of its lands and that closeness to heaven that is felt every day at dawn and wake up with the delicious aroma of coffee, smile and give thanks for another day, go out and see to all my neighbors to go to their farms with hoes on their shoulders, with their dog, faithful friend, walking to their jobs and where their traditions not only for coffee make us a united people, most of this area are coffee growers by inheritance, but I had to be for love, literally for love, and today more than ever I am committed to my farm, to my town and to all the people who go with me every day to continue fulfilling dreams and work projects, for an improvement in coffee .
