Description

Located at 1200 meters above the sea in Alishan of Chiayi County, the 3.6-ha Oe'otx Coffee Farm used to be a lily farm. After the infamous Typhoon Morakot and the subsequent August 8 Flood in 2009, owners Voyu Tiakiana and Tanivu Kautuana transformed their destroyed farm into a coffee farm the grows Typica, Bourbon, and Caturra. Recently, they started growing SL34 and Geisha as well.
Tanivu Kautuana said at first she and her husband only aspired to open a coffee shop, but soon realized growing and processing their own coffee would best reduce the costs of their products. of coffee. They transformed their farm into a coffee farm and a mill, which allowed them to also buy coffee cherries from neighboring farms for quality control. Throughout it all, Voyu Tiakiana learned about coffee cultivation little by little. He learned about cherries, parchments, beans, grafting, and field management. Right now, they are learning to battle coffee berry borers.
