Duvis was a producer of vegetables in the community of El Cedral, Santa Barbara. Facing many economic challenges he moved to San Pedro Sula seeking for a new work. After a while, with his earnings he managed to purchase his first coffee plot. Unfortunately he suffer a severe work accident and had to return to his community to recover from his wounds. Then he began to work hard on his farm until it was productive. This is the second time Duvis participates in the cup of Excellence competition. Previously he invested the money received for his coffee to solve some family needs and plant more coffee. His farm called “El Guamal” is located at Las Vegas community in Santa Bárbara. He believes he has the perfect conditions here to grow quality coffee: good soil, good weather, good alttitude, good assistance to the farm, excellent processing from harvesting to drying. But also, he knows his perseverance in achieving quality coffee has help him to gain experience: he learned to harvest only the ripe red cherries, to wash coffee with clean water and execute a detail drying process: pre-drying in screens and afterwards in a solar drier. He feels absolutely motivated to continue in this process and his dream is to sell his coffee to a buyer with the same passion and respect for coffee but also for the farmers. To Duvis, his family plays and extremely important role by supporting him in the farm activies.
