Description
The Barrantes-Zúñiga family has been dedicated to growing coffee from an early age, helping their parents with tasks on the farms. However, they got in the processing sector in 2001, due to the coffee crisis originated at this time, which caused low prices of coffee in fruit. Due to this, the family bet on a change to be able to maintain the activity, and that is how they became pioneers in the coffee processing process through a micro-mill in the area.
Cafetalera HERBAZÚ S.A is a micro-mill dedicated to the processing and marketing of coffee, located in the upper part of Naranjo, Alajuela; between 1,500 and 1,600 meters above sea level, in the area called Valle Occidental.
In recent years the Barrantes-Zúñiga family has worked for a generational change and has involved members of the fourth generation, which is my case, to carry out work on the farm and in the company with the purpose of motivating the new generations to continue with the activity.
Finca La Planada is processed from the beginning in Herbazu Micromill. It is plot of 3 hectares at a height of 1500 m.s.n.m in the western valley region located in Lourdes de Naranjo, Alajuela. We are committed to applying agrochemicals and fertilizers that are suitable for the environment.
