Description

Overview

The coffee produced during his first year as owner of the farm was awarded the 4th place in the Cup of Excellence Competition in 2002. With the required plantation upkeep, in 2003 it was the 2nd finalist in the same competition. In 2004 and 2005, the Farm was classified in the 3rd and in the 6th positions, respectively. All production phases are supervised by Vanda Goncalves, Dr. Cicero Viegas’ wife, and the administrative coordination of the farm is under Silvio Roberto Nogueira de Castro (Bebeto), who is responsible for making Fazenda Esperanca’s heart beat. In addition to being an excellent supervisor and extremely knowledgeable about coffee cultivation, he is also a great lover of coffee production. He practices his activities with dedication and love, which has been the high point of this position since the times of his grandparents.

Coffee processing system

Harvesting is always made according to leading edge techniques, between the months of May and September. The beans are dried on a terrace and the coffee is stored in a new recently built warehouse. All the equipment is state-of-the-art, thus ensuring the quality of the Farm’s production.
Concern with quality Fazenda Esperanca is a member of COCARIVE - Cooperativa Regional dos Cafeicultores do Vale do Rio Verde [Vale do Rio Verde Coffee Growers Regional Cooperative], from which it receives support and supervision. It also receives guidance from the Agronomist Sebastiao Marcio Pereira Nogueira. The use of modern techniques and equipment, together with quality controls implemented in the Farm, reflect the owner’s concern in ensuring the excellence of the beans produced in Fazenda Esperanca. Since the first time it participated in the Cup of Excellence Competition, it has always been classified among the first six finalists. This evidences the Farm’s commitment to the quality of its products.
