Description
"An Exotic Land"
Fourteen years ago, Regina Meardi de Papini inherited Monte Nevado, a farm located on the top of the Tecapa-Chinameca Mountain range. The farm covers 70 hectares and 39.9 hectares are covered with coffee. It is one of the regions where you can find a wide selection of almost extinct fauna. Walking thru the field, one can find armadillos, raccoons, tepescuintles and a wide selection of butterflies. The coffee growing area does not have a huge quantity of shade grown trees because there isnt enough sunlight on the top of the mountain. The picking of the winning lot was accomplished the first week of February by a dozen of workers that depend on seasonal farm jobs. During the coffee crisis, the farm was almost abandoned and the owners where keeping the farm going only with basic pruning and fertilization. Today the farm produces 400 qq. This is the first time that Monte Nevado (Snow Mountain) entered into a quality competition, and is the only farm from the Tecapa-Chinameca Mountain Range that has placed in this COE edition.
