History

Mr. Villeda farm is located in the beautiful rain forest mountain of Puca, he has been farming coffee from many years and currently the coffee he produces is among the best of the Opalaca Region. Quality Practices Each practice done in the farm is performed with special care in order to protect the beautiful forest that surrounds the farm. The coffee is processed by using traditional methods, Manuel owns a pulping machine and dry the grain over cement platforms by using the heat of sunrays. he uses organic fertilizers and twice a year uses supplements with Nitrogen.

Environmental Care

This Coffee is shade grown but in addition offering a very special view of an agri-environmental production system. Fertilization Mr Villeda uses organic fertilizer coming from the treatment of the pulp with the Californian earthworm. when necessary he uses Nitrogen supplements. After each harvest the plant are prunes in order to stimulate it to a better production. The shade is also control in order to assure the entrance of the right amount of light. Disease and Pest Control Cultural practices and biological control when necessary Harvesting Handpicking of ripe grains of Coffee begins in December and finish in April. This task is performed by skillful men and woman. Pulping and Fermentation Mr. Villeda has his own wet mill in which he does this processing task. there is a fermentation tank, a pulping machine and a selection canal where the first and second quality coffees are separated. Drying Mr. Quintanilla has built a cement platform and also owns a solar dryer for drying the coffee grains.
