Description

Miguel Alonzo is a small producer in the emerging region of Las Flores Azabache in the municipality of Danli, El Paraiso, this region in the eastern of Honduras in knowing for its exceptional weather and altitude to produce a coffee of excellent quality conditions. A scenic route through the mountains separating Danlí to the Azabache farm with lush variety of trees that shade its coffee crop of the Lempira variety among them the Liquidambar and Guama.

Miguel has extensive experience in the production of coffee, although not started producing in this region, he soon decided to settle in Azabache by the conditions offered to coffee production. His small farm of 5 hectares is everything is providing financial support for his family so that the whole family joins the activity of production and processing of this valued grain.

The agronomic management of the farm is integrated because it uses conventional fertilizers according to the technical recommendations but also uses all organic-products of coffee as fertilizers. Because Lempira is a variety tolerant to rust, he has not had many problems with this disease, however not neglects his plot of any attack by pests or diseases.

Miguel has a small coffee-milling machine that could be installed with over the years and has slowly been making improvements to his farm and facilities for recommendations of IHCAFE technicians; this year plans to build a solar dryer to complete the preparation process in his own farm.

It is the first time that Miguel participates in COE, many insistence technicians IHCAFE he decided to prepare a lot to participate in the competition. Today Miguel is very hopeful and grateful for this success and hopes to keep improving and learning to consolidate in the specialty coffee market
