Description

History of the farm

Fazenda Camocim, totaling 160 ha, was acquired by Mr. Olivar Fontenelle de Araújo in 1962. In 1999, with the help of his grandson, Henrique Sloper de Araújo, he planted 300 thousand coffee trees, beginning the production of large-scale organic Coffea arabica production in the city of Domingos Martins. At the time, there was little belief that organic coffee would yield results in the region. Henrique continued the project of not using chemical or industrialized products, such as fungicides or fertilizers, in the fields, and also adopted the principles of biodynamic agriculture which connects production to the natural cycles of the sun, moon, planets and zodiac, thus resulting in healthier, more robust plants.

Located in Pedra Azul, Espírito Santo, Fazenda Camocim is also famous for producing one of the rarest, most precious coffees in the world: Jacu Bird, a super-premium coffee considered the rarest in Brazil. It is picked by the jacu birds themselves from the trees. A blend of all varietals at Fazenda Camocim, with more yellow coffees, which are favored by the birds. It has a smooth flavor with striking acidity, fruity and floral aromas. 100% arabica, certified organic and biodynamic, produced in the region of Pedra Azul, Espírito Santo.

In 2017, Fazenda Camocim produced that champion coffee for Cup of Excellence Brazil - Naturals.

Coffee processing system

The farm uses selective hand-picking and completely systematic post-harvest processing with complete control of temperature and humidity at all stages.

Concern about quality

All products from Camocim Organic are the result of the interaction with the environment and the cycles of nature through completely organic, biodynamic management.

Fazenda Camocim has another trait: determination to run the farm within a sustainable model of agro-forestry production, in which cultivation occurs inside the forest, without the use of pesticides, preserving flora and fauna.

Certifications

IBD - Certifies organic management.

BSCA - Certifies quality and sustainability of the coffees.

Demeter - Certifies biodynamic management.
