Description

What began as mere leisure time entertainment, became for us, Henrry Gaibor and Verena Blazer, a beautiful way of life. We met in Burundi when we both worked at Doctors Without Borders, and when we decided to return to Ecuador to continue our profession as a surgeon and obstetrician, coffee crossed our lives and since 2011, coffee plantations and their aromas became our main activity. Since then we have been dedicated to coffee and its processes, in love with its complexity and with a lot of effort and dedication, we managed to enter the world of specialty coffees in our first harvest. We have different varieties of Arabica coffee: Typica, Bourbon, SL-28, Caturra and Sidra. Our coffees are valued by the best specialists in the world, which has allowed us to position ourselves in markets on four continents and in countries as demanding as the United States, China, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, among others. At Finca Maputo we are forerunners of the Honey process in the country. This is a complex and delicate drying process, together with the coffee honey or mucilage. The result of the cup is surprising for the aromas and fruity flavors that this practice provides, as well as a sweetness and enhanced flavors. Harvesting, pulping, fermentation, washing and drying are important factors in obtaining a specialty coffee. For this reason, the training of workers is essential. At Finca Maputo we are aware of the social commitment to the La Perla community. We give work with fair wages, a high percentage are women pickers who return harvest after harvest, achieving with their experience a constant improvement in our coffee.
