Description
Description of the owners:
Our family has been producing coffee since the 19th century, when José Rosa Pacas bought his first farm in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range in El Salvador, where he planted bourbon varietal trees. We also have influences from the Diaz family, as Petrona Diaz de Pacas inherited Finca El Retiro in 1950.
Six generations later, coffee remains our true passion and inspiration, while we continue to improve our methods, quality, and diversity to achieve maximum excellence in coffee. We have been able to capitalize on our family's rich experience in coffee to ensure quality as we produce, process, and export coffee internationally.
Farm history:
Petrona Palacios de Díaz purchased Finca El Retiro in 1927 and inherited it to her daughter, Petrona Díaz de Pacas, in 1950. Four years later, the "Pacas Viejo" lot was planted, marking the second planting of the Pacas variety in history. Petrona divided the farm into 3 parts and distributed them among her 3 children, and that is how Federico Pacas Díaz became the owner of Finca Santa Petrona. Since 2012, his son, Federico Pacas Lopez, has managed the farm.
This farm is composed of 11 lots and contains varieties such as Bourbon, Pacas, Red Pacamara, Yellow Pacamara, Ethiopian Dwarf, and Sidra. Over 15 people work on the farm, and more than 60 additional workers are employed during the harvest.
