Description
My name is Luis Alberto Blandón, our farm is located in the community of La Rinconada in the municipality of Jinotega, we are at an altitude between 1150 and 1200 meters above sea level, in the farm we currently have varieties such as Pacamara, Parainema, now we are in a process of renewal and the variety that we participate in the cup of excellence contest is Pacamara.
The agronomic management that we are giving to the farm in part of nutrition with soil samples, foliar for the phytosanitary part diseases such as rolla, anthracnose, nematicide management mainly biological for the care of the environment and water.
This year has been a year of challenges, this year I was a purpose to participate in the Cup of Excellence contest, we achieved that purpose, we are within the 30 best coffees of Nicaragua participating with the Pacamara variety, we have much to learn, much to improve, the expectations are high, we hope to continue participating in the next years with more varieties and to be able to reach better positions.
I feel very proud, I feel satisfied with these results, it is a good start being the first experience in Cup of Excellence and the truth is that the expectations are high for the following years. When we started with the project of the farm we focused on quality, we want to give quality and we want to focus on the international markets and we want to project our coffees with quality and excellence.
This farm belonged to my grandparents and I am the first generation to plant coffee on this farm, here it was used for pasture and livestock, but I entered the coffee business focusing on the issue of quality and as a purpose of the farm we have taken care of the timber resources that already exist on the farm, we are in the process of planting more timber trees within the coffee.
The Cup of Excellence Contest has been transparent, we have been very well informed about the processes of our coffees and this has been very flattering because one is aware of the processes that each of the participants' coffees undergo.
I share this achievement with my family who were the ones who motivated me, with my friend who was the one who pushed me, he was my mentor for this experience and above all with my collaborators, without them it would not have been possible to get to where we are.
