Alma Pineda is a very hardworking, warmhearted and family oriented lady. However her determination to help his family and give a better quality of life moved her to help her husband with another coffee plantation. A great deal for her to becomen a “woman in coffee” was because of her beloved husband who motivated her to plant Parainema variety in the farm. She has focused on specialty coffees, because she thinks is “more fun and self awardness to challenge in this demanding work to produce excellent quality coffee”. Later on she planted Pacas variety, which was the variety she used to participate in the 2019 COE competition when she reached third place. For 2023 she decided to give it a try to the SL28 variety to become more expert in handling new coffee varieties and understanding the differences of cultivation compared to the other she previously worked. Her coffee farm is named “Finca El Mango” located in Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, with an altitude of 1640 masl. She focuses in having a good agronomic management combined with excellent climate conditions have been a key factor for her success. Her coffee pickers collect only red cherry, and she uses a dome type solar drier. Her goal is to maintain the profile of their coffee, with high quality and to improve each year, so she can give the legacy of specialty coffee growing to her family.
