Description

LUZ MARINA BARRANTES
Hello, I am Luz Marina, the owner of Finca Fideluz, a family project that was born from the struggle and passion of my husband Fidel, who inherited from his father the teachings of work and love for coffee, as well as a part of the land. Over time, he acquired part of the inheritance of his brothers, giving rise to the current extension of the farm. Unfortunately, he died at the age of 67 and since then I, together with my son Luis Antonio (third generation), have taken charge of the farm. We always stayed with traditional varieties such as caturra and catuaí, but in search of an improvement in the quality of our coffee we ventured to try new varieties, one of these was the San Roque Kenya. This lot had a rest washed process, which consists of pulping the coffee, resting it in uncovered tanks with all its honey, then washing it and passing it to the African beds to finish its drying process. We do not have our own mill, so the entire processing process of this lot was carried out by the Don Joel micromill, which belongs to Allan Oviedo. We have been dedicated to growing coffee for more than 50 years and this is the first time we have participated in the Cup of Excellence. The family has been an important part of its development, because I am a mother of nine children and for many years they actively participated in the activities related to the care of coffee and its collection. The farm is located at 1550 m above sea level, in San Luis de Grecia, in the western valley of Costa Rica, a privileged area for coffee growing. I hope you enjoy our coffee very much, which was planted, cared for and harvested with great care and affection.
