5 LA FLORIDA - Ecuador 2022

Hacienda La Florida, is located in the La Victoria de Imbana parish belonging to Zamora Chinchipe, at an altitude of 1750 m.a.s.l., it was acquired in an auction from BanEcuador in 1980. In the beginning livestock activities were carried out as fattening of bulls. Thus, in 2011, through a project with Agriculture ministry and Livestock (MAG), which aimed to support farmers with coffee seeds to establish plantations, with the help of a technician.
When Vitalino and his wife saw coffee seedlings germinate for the first time, they felt joy and love and they decided to plant seven hectares in an agroforestry system. At the time, we did not know the potential of specialty coffee. In fact, it was serendipitous to have one of the best coffees in the Amazon region, the property has topographic and climatic characteristics suitable for coffee cultivation such as altitude, climate, among other factors that influence being located in the foothills of the mountain range, eastern Andes.
