Cup of Excellence
Casa Rumisitana, is a farm owned by a family of four people: Wilma, Fausto, Fernando and Diana. We came from the city on 2000. At the beginning, the only income was from milking cows, but eventually we realized that we should do something to look after the forest, working with Nature and not against her.
We decided not to expand the grazing area and instead planted some coffee and other trees to make a natural biological corridor for wildlife. It has been seven years since we started growing coffee being responsible for the quality and consistent supply of coffee cherries while cows live in harmony with birds, spectacled Andean bears, opossums, armadillos and orchids.
We do our best effort to improve rural livelihood working with local women during the harvest season. Children are also important, and that is why we and some friends started with the “Painting festival” since 2008 to make them know about the importance of nature as a provider of biodiversity, food and home for everyone.
We are really passionate about coffee!
