Cup of Excellence
The farm Palma or Palm is in the town of Opatla in the municipality of Ixhuatlán del café, in the State of Veracruz. It is an area of 3.02.66 hectares, all of which is cultivated with the geisha variety.
My name is Felix Morales Ixtla, coffee producer for three generations. The greatest inheritance that my grandparents and my parents left me is the love for this crop, farm Palma. I acquired it in the year 2000, planted with arabiga variety Typica and Bourbon. Since the rust affected us, finishing the entire farm because the plants were old plants, in addition to the low prices that have affected us for years, I took the decision to renew with rust-tolerant plants, but not affecting the quality of the coffee in cup, respecting the environment, and preserving the cultivation of coffee under shade, using fruit trees and different shade for this. Endorsement of this commitment is how the opportunity was given to link with the Civil Association Pronatura Veracruz, who certified the farm in the year 2017, as a private conservation area under certificate number: sedema/dggarn-apc/205/2017.
Once having a good plant production and in the search for better prices for our product, My family and I together arose the interest of improving the cutting and production processes of our coffee, for this we have only harvest cherries ripe, later in an artisanal way and at home to be able to carry out the process of pulling, fermented, picked and dried in the sun, always trying to carry out all these processes in a way that the quality of the coffee is preserved.
