Don Fransisco de Sola M. was a businessman, lover of nature and experimenter in agriculture and livestock. In 1953 he bought the property Plan del Hoyo, located in Cantón Buenos Aires, Santa Ana volcano, Apaneca Ilamatepec Moutain range. Originally this property belonged to the Díaz Salinas Family.
Plan del Hoyo is a land of approximately 90 hectares. The ancient crater of the Santa Ana volcano, ideally located on the north side of the masif; over time became forest and diverse crops suitable for altitudes of 1750 m.a.s.l., relatively protected from the winds. In 2015, his son Francisco R.R. de Sola Hebard saw the opportunity to
produce specialty coffees in Plan del Hoyo, for which he began to plant lots with different varieties, such as Kenya, Castillo, Anacafé 14, Geisha, Catimores and others. It also houses a variety garden managed by the University of Texas with the Borlaug Institute and other from the Swiss firm Nestlé. Currently there is a staff of 10 permanent workers and during harvest season (January - March) 30 more people are hired.Because of the investigative tradition that Don Francisco de Sola M. left us, Finca Plan del Hoyo has become a privileged volcanic land, with a
healthy environment, protected and endowed with exceptional natural beauty, where coffee is worked with the care that is demanded, an example for the national coffee industry and a contribution to the sustainability of our environment
